Looi Wei Li
Degree in Bachelor of Speech Science
“I become a speech therapist because I want to help others improving their quality of life. After few years working in a busy hospital in Cheras, I still cannot find a good intervention school for my preschool and school-aged clients. In Hatching, there are full of possibilities and ways to prepare a conducive learning environment and resources for a child and their family to grow along this long yet treasured intervention journey. This is the journey of life influencing life for the future betterment holistically. This is the mission of my life. My vision is to enable the accessibility to this quality education by all the students with different learning needs in the country by implementing it at the government level.”

“在读书期间,没有想过会做special needs teacher。 直到degree internship 的时候, 我在一间special needs centre当实习生。发现special needs 是我们社会忽略的一块。虽然实习期间过程很不容易,需要很多的耐心和技巧去了解和帮助一个孩子,但是看见孩子们被了解和逐渐地进步让我觉得很有成就感。此外,每个孩子都很特别,我也很感兴趣去了解他们的行为。”

Dania Pillai

“I chose this path to become a special needs educator because it is truly meaningful to witness the unique strengths each child carries and the beautiful way they see the world. Watching their growth and individual journey has been very rewarding to me. I believe every child deserves to feel seen, understood and valued for who they are.
Being a licensed counsellor as well, I am passionate about extending support not only to the children but also to their parents and families through a collaborative and compassionate approach. I strongly believe that when educators, therapists, and families work together, we are able to create a nurturing environment that empowers children to thrive and reach their fullest potential.
“Understanding a child begins with noticing their expression because every behaviour is a way of communicating their needs in their own way.” ”
